NSECDIS and CUPE 5054 have a common goal of supporting and providing a range of programs and services to Nova Scotia families of young children with a biological risk or a diagnosis of a developmental delay.
With the addition of the Inclusion Coach Classification we now offer the Pyramid Model Coaching to the Early Childhood Educators across Nova Scotia, within licensed Child Care Centres and Pre-Primary Classrooms.
What we do
Developmental Interventionists work with young children (aged 0-6 years) with developmental delays, or with a possibility of diagnosis, as well as their families. We visit young children in their homes, at early learning centres, at clinics and within their communities. We provide vital support, including coaching techniques to help develop skills, expert knowledge, and the instilling of confidence in parents and caregivers so that they can best support their child’s healthy growth and development.
Inclusion Coaches support and mentor Early Childhood Educators (ECEs). Working in childcare centres and schools, we ensure that early learning environments are equipped to best support the social and emotional development of all the children they work with. Inclusion Coaches and ECEs partner in implementing best practises and staying on top of current advances in the field of early childhood development.
Regional Administrative Assistants and Administrative Assistants have an essential role in supporting Developmental Interventionists and Inclusion Coaches, across eight provincial regions. As Regional and Administrative Assistants, we are an integral member of the administrative framework. We keep almost 30 offices across the province running efficiently.
